Famous Shake Shack is headed to Brooklyn

Brooklynites soon will be able to enjoy the iconic ShackBurger close to home.

Next year, Shake Shack will open its first outpost in the borough at the Fulton Street Mall.

“It’s about time,” Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz said in a statement. “I’m thrilled about Shake Shack.”

Devotees regularly stand in the notoriously long lines for the ShackBurger and shakes.

This year, the restaurant expanded beyond its Madison Square Park location, adding spots on the Upper East Side and near Times Square.

The Brooklyn addition comes in the middle of the mall’s renovation, and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership is hoping other stores like H&M also will move in.

Markowitz said he’s pushed restaurateur Danny Meyer toward Brooklyn for years, and still wants more.

“Shake Shack would be just the appetizer en route to the main course — a full-service Danny Meyer restaurant,” he said.

This year, the restaurant expanded beyond its Madison Square Park location, adding spots on the Upper East Side, Upper West Side and Times Square. ShackBurgers can also be found at Citi Field.
