Investigators charged a father in the death of his son after the young boy was found dead in their Queens home Sunday night.
According to police, officers arrived at the Fresh Meadows home on Underhill Avenue at around 10:10 p.m. after receiving an emergency call about what they said was an emotionally disturbed person inside.
Inside, they found an 8-year-old boy unconscious and unresponsive in his bed. The boy's 41-year-old father, identified as Boujeke Kenmoe, was found nearby, bleeding from reportedly self-inflicted injuries to his wrists.
Emergency workers declared the boy dead at the scene, while his father was taken to Queens Hospital Center. Authorities said he remained in stable condition. Police said the mother was not at home when the boy was killed.
By late Monday morning, police said Kenmoe was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
