FBI asks for help seeking ‘Bearded Bandit’ bank robber

The FBI in Boston and authorities in Rhode Island are asking for the public’s help identifying a serial bank robber that law enforcement has dubbed as the “Bearded Bandit.”

Authorities said today that they believe the man is responsible for four robberies since February. The string of robberies began in Seekonk and the remaining three occurred in Rhode Island. In each of the robberies the man said he would harm the teller and in three of the robberies he said he had a gun.

The suspected robber apparently has an affinity for hair – real and fake. Authorities believe he wore a wig during one of the robberies.

“Experience shows that residents in Rhode Island and Massachusetts are the FBI’s best ally to identify bank robbers. I hope the Bearded Bandit will soon be identified as a result of the media attention and the public’s help,” said FBI Boston Division Special Agent in Charge Richard DesLauriers.

Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for his arrest. Anyone with information can call 617-742-5533.
