The FBI started digging for a body Monday at the former Queens home of mobster James "Jimmy the Gent" Burke, according to a report from DNAinfo New York.

Burke was the inspiration for the character Jimmy "The Gent" Conway in the Martin Scorcese film"Goodfellas," playing by Robert DeNiro.

According to DNAinfo's sources, FBA Evidence Collection specialists and agents from the Organized Crime Division were in the basement of the Burkes' South Ozone Park home from 8 a.m. Monday morning with jackhammers and sledge hammers.

The FBI reportedly received a tip recently that a person who disappeared decades ago was buried in the basement or backyard of the Burke home.

A spokesperson with the FBI told Metro all that can be shared right now is that the Bureau is doing a search for evidence in connection with an ongoing FBI investigation.
