Feds seeking armored truck thieves

The FBI is asking the public’s help in finding these two men who they say robbed an armored truck Thursday morning.

At approximately 7:46 a.m. Thursday, a Rapid Armored truck was parked at East 155th Street and 3rd Avenue in the Bronx, where it was to make a cash delivery to David’s Check Cashing.

One of the Rapid Armored guards on the truck entered the check cashing business, holding a bag of money, according to an FBI report. As he entered the business, he was approached by two men, one of them dressed in an MTA vest and the other displaying a silver handgun.

The two suspects demanded the cash from the guard, said the feds, and a struggle followed and the guard ended up being Maced. The suspect fled on foot with the bag. The guard fired multiple shots after them but they made off with a large amount of cash.

“We are asking the public’s assistance in identifying these suspects and bringing them to justice,” said FBI Special Agent Barbara Daly. “This was an incredibly violent act and put the public at risk. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI immediately at 212-384-1000.”
