Female pickpocket hugs man to steal wallet in Theater District: Police

Boston police said officers arrested a woman who allegedly walked up to a man, hugged him and took his wallet Sunday in the Theater District.

When it comes to strangers, it's not just offers of candy you should avoid.

So much for free hugs.

Boston police said officers arrested a woman who allegedly walked up to a man, hugged him and took his wallet.

Officers were called to the Theater District about 1:30 a.m. Sunday when a man reported a robbery.

The man told police he was having a cigarette outside of 279 Tremont St. when the woman walked up to him and gave him a hug. Police said the man quickly discovered that his wallet was missing.

Police searched the area for the woman after the man provided a description. Officers caught up with her and arrested her.

Emily Bryant, 23, of Plymouth, was charged with larceny from a person, police said.
