Fight between ‘friends’ during bachelor party ends with throat slashed

A Worcester man is due in court tomorrow after he allegedly hit his friend with a bottle during a fight at a bachelor party.

Robert Hernandez, 27, was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. He was released on bail over the weekend and will likely be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court tomorrow.

Officers were called to the Boston Marriott Copley Place hotel just after 3 a.m. yesterday. There they found a 27-year-old man with “a large laceration to the neck area,” according to police. He was taken to Tufts Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.

“The victim, who was alert and conscious, stated that his friend struck him in the head with a bottle,” police said.

Officers spoke to Hernandez who said that the friend pushed him down to the ground and because of that he grabbed a bottle and struck him in the head.

Witnesses told police that both men were at a friend’s bachelor party and were drinking heavily before the fight.
