Fleet Week kicked off today, the week-long celebration of the United States Armed Forces – so get ready to thank those serving the country when you see them around the city.
The event started with a parade of ships this morning, sailing by the Statue of Liberty and to the George Washington Bridge.
Visitors can climb aboard two of those ships, the Guayas, from Ecuador, which is pictured above, and the Gloria, from Colombia, at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum on Manhattan’s West Side.
Other events include a tug-of-war competition and movies on the flight deck.
