The National Weather service has issued a statewideflood watch for Massachusetts through the Labor Day holiday.

In addition to torrential downpours and threats of flash flooding on Sunday, the NWS warned ofextensive rain and thunderstorms through Monday evening.
"With any storms there is potential for heavy rainfall of 1 to 3 inches in a short amount of time, possibly resulting in flash flooding," the National Weather service said in a statement.
In the case of flash flooding, do not drive into flooded areas. According to the NWS,if flood waters rise around your car, abandon the car and move to higher ground if you can do so safely. You and the vehicle can be swept away quickly.
The warning is for all of Massachusetts excluding the Cape and Islands. It extends into all of Rhode Island, portions of Northern Connecticut and Southern New Hampshire.
