Four arrested for brawl at Popeye’s in Brockton’s Westgate Mall

Brockton westgate mall A brawl at Westgate Mall in Brockton resulted in four arrests Tuesday.

A vicious brawl took over a Popeye’s Chicken & Biscuits at Westgate Mall in Brockton on Tuesday.

The fight started in a Foot Locker store, but spilled over into Popeye’s, where a group of men and women threw punches and chairs at each other. One woman was taken to the hospital with a broken nose.

Fatima Siddiqui, who was working at the restaurant, shielded her face with her hands when the fight started.

“Very scary,” she told the Brockton Enterprise. “I’ve been 10 years in this Popeye’s, never seen anything like this.”

“We need more security in this mall,” she added. “We don’t want to see this situation again. It’s not good for business and it’s not good for the mall’s reputation.”

Four men have been arrested, but Brockton police are expecting more. According to the Enterprise, Joshua Taylor, 22, was “too out of control” to be arrested Tuesday. He reportedly threatened to kill a witness who pointed him out to police, and later kicked in the door panel on the cruiser and bent one of the bars on the cruiser window.

The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton District Court on Wednesday.
