Boston’s beloved Keytar Bear has reportedly been attacked, butjust when you were ready to pack up and move out of the Hub after such heartlessness could take place, there is still good to be found.

Fundraisers have been set up to support theseemingly ubiquitous musical bear who was recently attacked twice, according to Vanyaland.

“It just completely blew my mind that someone would be mean to him. I just want him to be able to go out there and to not be afraid to play his music and make people happy,” said Abigail Taylor, who recently started an online fundraiser and organized an event to help Keytar Bear.

The street performer’s identity is a mystery to many, but he is known throughout Greater Boston having set up his simple shop outside Park Street and Government Center MBTA stations and even in front of the Old State House. Back in March, Metro talked with Keytar Bear during one of his performances outside of Faneuil Hall.

Taylor’s Indiegogo campaign for Keytar Bear raised more than $3,200 in one day. The goal was $2,500.

Taylor, who works for Workbar in Central Square, also organized a fundraiser at the co-working space scheduled for May 8. She said Keytar Bear will make an appearance and perform during the event. More than 300 people have RSPV’d on Facebook.

Taylor said she’s exchanged Facebook message with Keytar Bear and the funds raised will help the musician with his bills and to buy some special gifts.

“I’m very excited Boston is showing so much love for a local musician,” said Taylor.
