Former "Star Trek" star and Internet personality George Takei endorsed City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in the mayor's race Tuesday.
Playing heavily on the Trek theme, a YouTube video touting the endorsement doesn't disappoint.
"I'm supporting Christine Quinn because she has the experience, the toughness and the heart to take us into the future. And I should know a thing or two about the future. I worked there for three seasons and six movies," Takei says in the video, with futuristic sci-fi music playing dreamily in the background.

"With your help, she will boldly go where no woman has gone before! Oh my!" Takei adds.
Takei, an outspoken gay rights activist, cited her experience and "compassion" in the endorsement.
Quinn has also been endorsed by Neil Patrick Harris and Tim Gunn, two other celebrity activists.
No word on how this endorsement will affect Quinn's relationship with the United Federation of Planets.
