A Girard Park woman was charged with robbing two stores, each time wielding a large knife, police said today.
Tara Silva, 34, from the 2000 block of Emily Street, restrained an employee at Grace Grocery in Girard Park around 12:14 p.m., Nov. 18 with duct tape, took money, cigarettes and the employee's cell phone and fled, officials said. Silva violently beat the employee causing minor injuries.

The next morning, around 8:17 a.m., Silva allegedly entered Dollar Tree in Center City and once again, approached an employee with a large knife, demanding money. Silva fled with cash from the register. Just before that robbery, Silva was captured on surveillance video.
She was arrested in the 2000 block of South Opal Street in Girard Park. She has also been charged with aggravated assault.
