A 31-year-old good Samaritan was helping to change a Dunmore, Pa., commuter's flat tire when he was hit and killed by a passing motorist, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Richard Cummings, of Scranton, pulled over on Casey Highway in Lackawanna County in Northeastern Pennsylvania Saturday about 11:30 p.m. to help a 20-year-old man fix a tire on his Honda Civic.

As Cummings, along with a 17-year-old male, worked on the vehicle, a Simpson, Pa., woman driving a sport utility vehicle struck the Civic and then Cummings. He died on impact.

The car's owner and the teen were also injured.

No charges have been filed.
