Good Samaritans pull man from Long Wharf area during water rescue

A man fell from his boat and into Boston Harbor this afternoon, prompting some good Samaritans to jump in after him and help rescue him.

The man fell after 4 p.m. from a boat near a pier at Long Wharf, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Coast Guard. The unidentified man was between 55 and 60 years old.

Some good Samaritans jumped in the water as the man struggled and tried to help him. A water taxi also assisted in the rescue.

State Environmental Police and Coast Guard boats tried to get to the scene, but the man was pulled out of the water by the time they arrived.

The spokesman said the man suffered no serious injuries.
