Gov. Christie: Storm damage in N.J. ‘unimaginable’

Gov. Chris Christie has just given a detailed assessment of the damage as the brunt of Hurricane Sandy seems to have moved through.

Christie, noticably sick with a cold, said National Guardsmen and vehicles that can drive through high water are already in some of the state’s northern big cities swamped by river flooding and to barrier island towns down the shore, which he said “remain unsafe for residents.”

Many rescues are already underway, he said.

Updates to the situation in New Jersey to come shortly.
