Hailo taxi app expands to Cambridge, eyes Brookline and Somerville

Hailo Boston, an app-based taxi hailing service, announced today that it has expanded its network of licensed taxi drivers to include Cambridge.

Hailo Boston, an app-based taxi hailing service, announced today that it has expanded its network of licensed taxi drivers to include Cambridge.

Hailo, which exclusively works with licensed taxi drivers, launched in Boston about a year ago.

“A Hailo cab can be hailed from anywhere, but the expansion means that more licensed drivers than ever will be able meet passenger demand," Vanessa Kafka, general manager of Hailo Boston. "We pride ourselves on working closely with regulators in every city in which we operate and have found a warm reception in Cambridge.”

In celebration of the launch, Hailo will be offering $15 off rides for all new customers with the code “Cambridge.” It can be used today through next Thursday, Sept. 19.

The company plans to expand service to Brookline and Somerville soon due to demand in those communities.

Nearly one-third of drivers in Boston are registered with Hailo and thousands of passengers are signing up for the service each month. Hailo recently launched in New York City and Washington, D.C.
