Mike’s Pastry in the North End got a run for its money this weekend after Golden Cannoli Shells of Somerville attempted to set the Guinness World Record Saturday for largest cannoli ever made.
At 12 feet and 300 pounds, the giant cream-filled pastry was showcased at Boston’s 2011 New England Dessert Showcase.
The giant dessert was cut up into 1,000 portions and sold for $1 each piece with proceeds benefiting a local charity.
Golden Cannoli Shells is one of the worlds largest cannoli manufacturing companies. They didn’t break the record, however.
