Homeless man held without bail for alleged hate crime

A homeless man who allegedly assaulted two women was held without bail after a judge yesterday determined he was too dangerous to release.

William Braxton, 50, allegedly punched and kicked two women as they walked down Mass Ave. and Washington Street in the South End.

A State Trooper passing by said he saw Braxton punch a 46-year-old Roxbury woman in the face and kick her as she fell to the ground. He also said he saw Braxton beat and kick a 48-year-old Roxbury woman.

The women told police they were holding hands as they walked and Braxton screamed homophobic epithets at them.
