When Jay-Z rapped in “Monster” last year that “None of you n****s know where the swamp is / None of you n****s have seen the carnage that I’ve seen,” we all thought he was exaggerating! It turns out he was not; the Marcy Projects where Jay grew up turn out to play host to some actual monsters.
Well, not goblins, ghouls or zombies without consciences, but something just as frightening: Gigantic, three-foot rats.
From the New York Daily News:
Naomi Colon, head of the Marcy Houses Tenant Association, said there have been sightings of the outsize rat for at least six years.
…Animal experts who viewed the picture identified the animal as a Gambian pouched rat, which is a fairly common pet rat.
They’re nocturnal, can grow to three feet and four pounds or more, and live seven or eight years.
Imports have been banned since 2003, when they were blamed for a monkeypox outbreak that sickened 100 people in the United States.
OK, so there may have only been one gigantic terrifying rat stalking Brooklyn public housing. But that is one gigantic terrifying rat too many.
