Hyde Park couple killed as son sleeps nearby

The daughter of retired Boston Police detective was fatally shot along with her boyfriend in their Hyde Park home early this morning as a 4-year-old boy slept in a nearby room.

Police responded to 957 Hyde Park Ave. just after 12:40 a.m. for a report of shots fired. When they arrived they found the 24-year-old woman and her boyfriend, who was in his 30s, dead from gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been released.

The woman was the daughter of retired detective William Kee, according to television reports.

From the shooting scene last night, he recalled how his daughter was a “fighter” and was born prematurely at then Boston City Hospital.

“I remember as I worked as a detective out of headquarters I would go there and rock her in a chair. I can’t believe that 24 years later it’s the end of my daughter’s life,” Kee said to television crews at the scene last night.

Officers found the boy asleep and unharmed in the apartment.

Police said that the preliminary investigation does not indicate forced entry and the incident does not appear to be random.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information can call 800-494-TIPS or text “tip” to crime (27463).
