Jewel thief targeting the Upper East Side
Police are looking for a grey-haired white man they say has been breaking into Upper East Side apartments and stealing jewelry and electronics.
The NYPD is searching for a suspect who has hit at least six Upper East Side apartments since Aug. 31.
The thief enters the apartments through a fire escape and leaves through the front door, taking jewelry and electronic equipment, police said.
The burglarized homes are located on the Upper East Side, from 63rd Street to 92nd Street between First and Third avenues. The most recent burglary occurred Sept. 16 about 7:20 a.m. near Third Avenue and 74th Street.
Police described the suspect as a grey-haired white man, last seen wearing a dark blue T-shirt, blue jeans, black sneakers and carrying a black backpack.
