Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota suspended his aggressive attacks on opponent Bill de Blasio for a moment when a caller on his telephone town hall had some vicious words for de Blasio's kids, the Daily News reported.

Sheila from Bayside, Queens said:“You know what’s sickening? Seeing his son and his daughter. We’re going to have two hippies in the mayor’s office. It’s sickening. I’ll be truthful. I hate to say that about children. But they’re not children anymore."

The call organizers reportedly immediately cut Sheila off and Lhota quickly responded.

“I actually want to applaud the family of Bill de Blasio," Lhota said. "What a great family he has and the great children that he has. And I think we should all celebrate his marriage."

But the Lhota campaign has kept up their de Blasio attacks on Twitter, launching a new hashtag: #blahblahblahdeblasio.
