A man who allegedly raped an actress in Hudson River Park reportedly tried to kill himself in jail Sunday.
Jonathan Stewart, 25, is accused of raping and choking the woman, 21, over the weekend, and the New York Post reports he tried to hang himself.
“He’s lived with himself doing this so long, it’s surprising that now it has become too much,” the woman told the Post after hearing about the attempt.
He was reportedly given parole in July after seven years in prison on charges including sex abuse.
According to the Daily News, he allegedly sat next to the woman on a bench near Harrison and West Streets around 5 a.m. Saturday before dragging her into the bushes.
A 73-year-old woman also reported being raped in Central Park this month.
Christine Quinn said at a press conference yesterday that sexual offenders with records should be taken more seriously.
