This weekend, J&R electronics store will open up J&R Jr., a new store for New York City's smallest shoppers.

Metro got a preview tour of the 15,000-square-foot space, housed on the second floor of J&R's 1 Park Row flagship store in Lower Manhattan.

Part toy store, part electronics store, part event space, the new location is stocked with gizmos and gadgets kids are sure to go gaga over.

Jason Friedman, executive vice president at J&R, said J&R Jr. is all thanks to his five-year old daughter.

"She runs through the aisles and lets me know what she likes and doesn't," Friedman told Metro of his little girl. "My children were the inspiration for this store."

Friedman is the son of Joe and Rachelle Friedman, the married couple who opened the electronics megastore in 1971.

J&R Jr. will be a kid's oasis, said Friedman, promising all the games, toys, baby basics and parental gear Big Apple families need. There will also be an events space for birthday parties, kids' concerts and parenting classes, Friedman said.

For the grand opening this Saturday, J&R Jr. is hosting a two-day "Kidstravaganza," with free concerts by kids' bands Laurie Berkner, Dirty Socks and Dan Zanes.
