Thousands of New Yorkers will use mass transit to get to and from Fourth of July celebrations this weekend.

Subways

On Friday, July 4, all subways will run on a Saturday schedule.

Also on Friday, no R trains will run below Canal Street and customers are encouraged to use the Bowling Green station for 4 and 5 trains and the Fulton Street station for 2, 3, 4, 5, A and C trains.

Before and after the Macy's fireworks display Friday night, there will be increased subway service on the 5, A, C, F, N and the 42nd Street shuttle. The fireworks will be set off from three barges between the Manhattan Bridge and Pier 9 from 9:25 to 9:55 p.m.

Buses

Buses will run on a Saturday schedule on Friday, July 4. Delays and detours may affect the M5, M15 SBS and M20 in Manhattan and the B25 and B63 in Brooklyn.

Long Island Railroad

Additional early-afternoon Long Island Railroad trains will be added from Penn Station on Thursday, July 3. Eight more trains will be added to the schedule and will beginning departing from Penn Station at 2:08 p.m. Three more LIRR trains will be added on the Babylon and Port Jefferson branches. One extra train will be added on the Port Washington and Far Rockaway branches. Full details here.

The LIRR will operate on a Saturday schedule on July 4.

Metro-North Railroad

There will be 17 additional Metro-North trains leaving Grand Central between 12 and 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 3. Five Hudson Line getaway trains will be added, plus three to the Harlem Line, nine to the New Haven Line and two extra inbound late PM New Haven Line trains. More details here.

On Friday, July 4, Metro-North trains will run on a Saturday schedule. There will be extra trains in both directors before and after the Macy's fireworks display.

Staten Island Railway

There will be early afternoon express train service on Thursday, July 3. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., extra trains will depart from the St. George Ferry Terminal. One express and one local train will wait for every boat until 7:50 p.m. Friday night.

On Friday, July 4, the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Saturday schedule and the MTA will add additional service before and after the fireworks as needed.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels

All routine construction work at the MTA's seven bridges and two tunnels will be suspended beginning Thursday at 1 p.m. until Monday morning.
