It was unclear whether the government’s key witness, Ronald Wilburn, would testify in the trial, which continues today, or disobey a judge’s order that he do so.
Prosecutors told the judge that Wilburn was no longer cooperating with federal authorities.
Wilburn also worked with the feds when they investigated former state senator Dianne Wilkerson, who pleaded guilty in June to extortion for taking bribes.
As part of the federal investigation, Wilburn also offered Wilkerson bribes to help him secure a liquor license.
