Lansdale man charged with Halloween murder of his mother

A Lansdale man has been charged with fatally stabbing his 79-year-old mother on Halloween.

Warren Pennick, 54, allegedly walked into the Lansdale police station on the morning of Oct. 31 to report that he had just killed his mother, Lorraine Pennick, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office. Officers responded to Pennick’s home on Salford Avenue and found the woman at the bottom of the basement stairs with multiple stab wounds to her torso.

Prosecutors said Lorraine Pennick was found with a seven-inch knife laying on her chest, which authorities believe was the murder weapon. In addition to the stab wounds to her chest, prosecutors said she had defensive wounds on her wrists and a slash wound to her throat. They also found bloody clothes, which Warren Pennick apparently changed out of before going to police.

Warren Pennick is charged with first-degree murder, third-degree murder and possession of an instrument of crime. He is being held in Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail.

Prosecutors have not released a motive.
