Level 3 sex offender arrested for Beacon Hill rape

Boston Police said today they arrested Anthony Williams, 45, of Boston, and charged him with receiving stolen
property and rape for allegedly busting into a home on Beacon Hill on Nov. 10 then robbing and raping a woman there.

According to the Massachusetts State Sex Offender Registry, Williams was previously convicted of rape in Essex County Court in 1998. Suffolk County District Attorney Spokesman Jake Ward said today Williams currently has open cases in Boston Municipal Court charging him with assault and battery and failure to register as a sex offender.

Following the Nov. 10 assault, Boston Police released a photo of the man suspected in the assault. He was shown using an ATM machine and is described as black with braided hair and in his late 20s to early 30s.

Details were scarce following the attack, however police said the home was in the area of Joy and Myrtle streets, and that
the suspect showed the victim a weapon, possibly a knife.

Williams is due in Boston Municipal Court Wednesday.
