Police officials said Monday that a man previously believed to have been hit by a car and killed Saturday morning actually died after he was ejected from a moving vehicle.

Officer Jillian Russell, a police spokeswoman, said Monday that police investigators and the medical examiner determined that because the man did not suffer any broken bones below the pelvic area that he must have been pushed or fell out of a moving vehicle.

The victim's body was found around 6 a.m. Saturday at 9th Street and Wyoming Avenue with what authorities said were "road rash injuries" and some "small automobile car parts" were found on the victim's body that may have suggested a hit and run.

An official cause of death — as well as the manner of death — is still pending the outcome of the medical examiner's full report.

Police continues its investigation of the incident.
