Machete thugs’ reign of terror

CENTRAL ISLIP – A pair of machete-wielding men robbed and sliced a gas station attendant after they crashed a stolen car into his vehicle in Central Islip on Monday.

“That level of unnecessary violence in broad daylight … that’s not common,” said Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick of the Suffolk County police.

Fitzpatrick said the men, described as 18- to 20-year-old Hispanics, followed the victim, a man in his 40s, as he left the gas station with thousands of dollars.

At 2:50 p.m. on Express Drive South near Gloria Boulevard, the suspects crashed a stolen light-blue Honda into the victim’s vehicle.

The suspects sliced the victim several times in the arm before fleeing on foot.
