A man was arrested by Boston police Sunday after he allegedly broke into a boat docked off the North End and consumed the owner’s cake and beer.

Eric Pfaltzgraff, who turned 39 on Monday, was arraigned in a Boston court on breaking and entering and other charges on Monday, according to the Suffolk district attorney’s office. He pleaded not guilty and was ordered by a judge to undergo a mental health evaluation. He was also ordered held on $5,000 bail.

Authorities said a Boston couple who had docked their boat off Commercial Street returned just after midnight Sunday to find Pfaltzgraff allegedly onboard eating their cake, drinking their beer and smoking their cigars.

He told the couple he was a member of the Boston Police Department’s Harbor Unit, authorities said, adding that he was also wearing the man’s Rolex watch.

Pfaltzgraff gave the watch back before Boston police responded and arrested him, authorities said.
