A worker at a CambridgeSide Galleria restaurant allegedly secretly recorded his female coworker while she was in the employee changing room and is now facing charges.

Ariel Vanegas Cardona, 34, of East Boston, was charged with unlawful wiretapping, according to Cambridge police.

Police said officers were called to a restaurant at the mall on Tuesday morning after a woman noticed the hidden cell phone. It was recording video inside the restaurant’s employee changing room, police said.

A police spokesman would not identify the restaurant and said that it appeared the recording was limited to the employee changing room.

Officers interviewed those involved and police said Cardona allegedly admitted to placing the phone in the room and recording his coworker.
