Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for shooting a 9-year-old boy in the Bronx last month.
Vernon Franklyn, 22, has been charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
The child was shot while standing outside a deli at the corner of East 175th Street and Prospect Avenue on the afternoon of Dec. 18, police said. He was taken to Jacobi Hospital, where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his foot and then released.
Police said last month that three suspects began shooting at three unknown males in the area when one of the bullets struck the boy. No one else was hurt.
