Man bites cabbie during fare dispute at Wonderland Station

A Mattapan man is accused of biting and beating a cab driver during an early morning dispute at Wonderland Station.

Around 1:30 a.m. today, Ivan Hernandez, 22 of Dorchester, and Jevaun Jacques, 21 of Mattapan, allegedly approached an MBTA employee claiming to be T employees and demanded a ride, transit police said.

When the T worker refused, the pair headed to a nearby cab and demanded to be driven to Blue Hills for $20, but the driver refused, saying it would cost $50, transit police said.

That’s when Jacques allegedly put his fist through the cab window, breaking its glass, and punching the driver in the head, causing multiple cuts to his face.

Another cab driver reportedly came to help his colleague, and that’s when Hernandez and Jacques allegedly beat down that driver as well – but it was Jacques who took a bite out of that driver’s hand, breaking his skin.

The pair were arrested and charged with a slew of offenses, including assault and battery on a police officer – Jacques is accused of kicking an officer in the hip during his arrest.

Hernandez and Jacques are due in court sometime today.
