Man charged with sex assault in connection with gunpoint robberies
The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office charged Marquise Wakefield, 21, with sexual assault in connection with three gunpoint robberies.
The District Attorney's Office on Monday charged 21-year-old Marquise Wakefield with attempted rape, robbery and related offenses in connection with three separate gunpoint robberies Sunday involving four different women.
Investigators said the robberies occurred on the 400 block of Pine Street in Society Hill and on the 4800 block of Chester Avenue in Squirrel Hill, with the victims ranging in age from 14 to 25 years old.
Wakefield, of the 6000 block of Regent Street in Southwest Philadelphia, was arraigned shortly before 5:15 p.m. and bail was set at 10 percent of $3 million.
He is charged with four counts each of simple assault, making terroristic threats and possessing an instrument of crime; three counts each of robbery with the infliction of serious bodily injury, theft, receiving stolen property and reckless endangerment; and one count each of attempted rape, sexual assault, burglary, criminal trespassing, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, attempted robbery, attempted theft and attempting to receive stolen property.
Wakefield is next due in court Sept. 26 for a preliminary hearing in the robberies involving the adult victims and on Sept. 27 for a preliminary hearing in the robbery involving the juvenile victim.
