What appeared to be an auto accident in Brewerytown early Saturday morning quickly turned into a homicide investigation after police discovered the driver was shot to death, according to police.


Investigators said officers were first called to the 1400 block of North 33rd Street at 2:15 a.m. for a report of a 30-year-old man whose car had struck a tree.


The man was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital, where doctors found he had been shot once in the neck.


The victim, whose identity had not yet been released Sunday, died at 2:45 a.m.


No arrests have yet been made.
