Man critically stabbed outside Old City’s Recess Lounge

Police are looking for a man who stabbed another man in the leg in Old City early this morning, leaving him in critical condition.

The suspect was leaving Recess Lounge on the 100 block of South 2nd Street at 2:30 a.m. when he got into a fight with a group of employees, police said. In the course of the altercation, he stabbed a man in the leg.

It is unclear whether the victim, 34, was an employee of Recess. He was rushed to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the identity of the suspect is known and they expect to release more information later tonight or tomorrow.

The incident seems to be part of a growing trend of violence in the popular nightclub area.

Last month, Temple grad Kevin Kless, 23, was fatally beaten around 2:30 a.m. on 4th near Chestnut Street after leaving a bar on the 200 block of Market Street.
