Saturday was a rough day for commuters as two men found themselves on the subway tracks in separate incidents with different outcomes.

One man was killed after he dropped his phone onto the tracks in the Bronx, while another made it back onto the platform safely after grappling with a mugger in midtown.

Francisco Diego, Jr.reported the loss of his phone to a station operator at theWakefield-241stStreet stationearly Saturday morning. He was advised to wait for help but apparently grew impatient and boarded a downtown 2 train, attempting to reach down between two cars to retrieve the lost phone.

But Diego reportedly brushed the third rail with his hand and was electrocuted, falling onto the track bed, where he was run over as the train started to move.

Meanwhile, a man was attacked by a mugger at around 11:30 Saturday night while riding a Queens-bound E train. The resulting altercation spilled onto theLexington Ave-53rd St. platform as the victim fought to hold onto his iPhone and wallet. The attacker shoved the victim onto the tracks and made off with the stolen property.

The victim was able to climb back onto the platform before the next train arrived. He suffered only minor injuries.
