A man is facing charges of arson after he allegedly set fire to a Weymouth building housing multiple businesses including a pornography store.

Jon Fernald, 44, was charged with arson of a dwelling, according to Weymouth police.

Police and fire officials said a fire broke out at 138 Bridge St. at about 6:40 a.m. Saturday. The address consists of three businesses as well as an apartment in the back.

When crews arrived they found the building fully engulfed in flames. A witness told officers that a man was seen starting the fire and then running away.

Officers caught up with Fernald a short distance away. He was suffering from severe burns and was taken to a hospital, police said.

Authorities said the four residents of the apartment made it out of the building safely.

The fire is under investigation.
