A man was fatally shot in Mattapan Saturday night, making the murder the fifth slaying in Boston in the last 10 days.

Officers were called to the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Evelyn Street at about 8:13 p.m. for a report of a person shot, according to police. When officers arrived they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The man, who was not identified, was suffering from life-threatening injuries and was taken to Boston Medical Center. He later died at the hospital.

Police did not release a description of any suspects.

It was the city's fifth killing so far this year, including the fatal shooting of a man allegedly committing a home invasion in Dorchester when he was shot by the homeowner.

Anyone with information on Saturday's shooting can call 617-343-4470.
