A man lying on the subway tracks was run over by a 2 Train in TriBeCa's Franklin Street station before Friday's morning commute, police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Officials said.
The man, believed to be in his 40s or 50s, was run over by the northbound train around 5:40 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the station.
Police were investigating why the man was lying on the tracks, but investigators don't suspect criminality.
Police initially reported the man was run over by a 1 train, but an MTA spokesman said he was killed by a 2 Train.
The incident caused service changes to the 1, 2 and 3 trains for a few hours, but service resumed with residual delays around 7:15 a.m., according to the MTA.
