Police are investigating a broad daylight shooting at a basketball court near Eighth and Poplar streets that left one man dead Sunday afternoon.

 

Investigators said the victim, 27, was on a court outside the East Poplar Recreation Center, located on the 800 block of North Eighth Street, shortly before 2 p.m. when he was shot twice in the chest.

 

The man staggered to Eighth and Poplar streets and collapsed.

 

Medics rushed the victim to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he died around 2:05 p.m.

 

No weapon was recovered, and no arrests have yet been made.
