Firefighters rescued a man who had fallen onto the tracks at the Rector Street 1 station on Monday night.

The fire department received a call at 10:38 p.m. about an unconscious person on the tracks at the Rector Street 1 station last night.

FDNY officials said they were able to get the man from the tracks to the platform, and emergency medical personnel rushed him to Bellevue Hospital.

He was listed in serious condition, they said. It is not known how he fell. Fire officials believe a Good Samaritan saw him on the tracks and called 911.

The MTA confirmed that the man was not hit by a train. Service for the 1 train was stopped at Chambers Street until about 11:05 p.m. so that the FDNY could rescue the fallen man.
