Police shot a 31-year-old man in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn Tuesday night after the suspect refused to drop a gun, NY1 reports.

A group of officers arrived at a home on Glenmore Avenue after they received a tip about a person who was living at the home illegally.

When they got to the house, the suspect was walking out of the back door holding a gun. When the man refused to drop the gun, a police officer shot him in the torso. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
