A 25-year-old man was shot in the leg on Saturday as he attempted to fend off two gunman during a robbery attempt in Fishtown, police said.
Police released a video Tuesday that shows the target walking around 2 a.m. with a group of women on the 100 block of West Thompson Street. It shows the man stop and faced two men who hopped out of a late 90’s, 4-door Green Ford Explorer.
Both attackers then pointed guns at the man and his friends and demanded money.
The victim patted his pants pockets, made a comment and then turned his back on the gunmen. His friends ran to the end of the block.
After a few more verbal barbs traded back and fourth, the victim attempted to leap at one gunman but missed and fell flat on the ground. The second gunman snuck behind the victim as he stood up and started to inspect items dropped by the victim's friends.
When the victim attacked the second gunman, the first gunman fired three shots, one of which hit the victim in the left leg. The second gunman stole the victim's wallet, which contained about $70, and both took off.
The victim was taken to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The suspects were both described as black men in the early-to-late 20s. The first attacker stood about 6’2” with a thin build and wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, police said. The second gunman, who stood about 5’8” also had a thin build, but wore a blue hooded sweatshirt.
