Police are searching for a suspect they say used a "bear hug" to rob an 85-year-old man in the West Village.

 

The robbery occurred Sept. 16 about 5:15 a.m. near Washington Place and Sixth Avenue, police said. The suspect reportedly came at the victim from behind, placed him in a bear hug and robbed him.

 

The victim was not injured, police said.

 

Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a black and white checkered flannel hooded sweatshirt, black jeans and a baseball cap.
