A man wanted for assaulting police allegedly turned violent Tuesday during an arrest at Ruggles Station.

Transit police said they saw Juan Garcia, 42, of Hyde Park "piggyback" behind paying customers around 11 a.m.. A background check showed Garcia had a warrant out for two counts of assault and battery on an officer, resisting arrest and furnishing a false name.

But when transit police tried to take him in Tuesday, "a violent struggle ensued."

"He began to resist and assault and batter the officers. Really?" transit police wrote on their blog Thursday.

Ultimately the officers were able to place Garcia into custody.
