A worldwide search was under way Thursday for a disturbed Staten Island man suspected of murdering his parents.
Eric Bellucci, 30, allegedly fled the house where he lived with his parents and caught a flight to Israel on Wednesday afternoon from the Newark airport, arriving on Thursday.
According to reports, Bellucci was a bright young man who attended Stuyvesant High School and the elite Williams College, but succumbed to schizophrenia that made him increasingly volatile in recent years.
His 25-year-old sister, Vanessa, had moved out of the family’s Annadale home, reportedly because her delusional brother attacked her. Unable to reach her parents — Arthur, 61, and Marian Bellucci, 56 — she went to their home on Wednesday night. She called police as soon as she saw their blood in the front hallway.
“He is in Tel Aviv,” Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said Thursday. “We have an officer there. So, obviously, we’re working through him.”
Concerned his son could hurt someone, Arthur Bellucci had turned a shotgun and pistol over to a local precinct a few weeks ago, the Staten Island Advance reported. metro
