MAP: Street closures near Times Square on New Year’s Eve

New Yorkers are being told to expect delays when traveling near Times Square today, as several streets will be closed for the New Year’s Eve celebration. The NYPD is recommending that public transportation be taken when possible.

Street Closures

At 1:30 p.m. today, the following streets will be closed to traffic:

Seventh Avenue, from 41st to 59th streets
Broadway, from47th to 59th streets
43rd to 47th streets, from Sixth to Eighth avenues

Starting at 3 p.m. today, Times Square will be closed to traffic as attendees gather to watch the New Year’s ball drop.

At 5 p.m. today, 42nd Street from Sixth to Eighth avenues will be closed to traffic

No Parking

Parking will not be allowed in the following areas through 1 a.m. on New Year’s Day:

All cross-town streets from 33rd to 59th streets between Sixth and Eighth avenues

West side of Fifth Avenue, from 37th to 52nd streets
West side of Sixth Avenue, from 34th to 59th streets
East side of Sixth Avenue, from 37th to 52nd streets
East side of Eighth Avenue from 34th to 57th streets

34th Street between Fifth and Ninth avenues
37th Street between Fifth and Eighth avenues
42nd Street between Fifth and Ninth avenues
43rd Street between Fifth and Eighth avenues
48th Street between Fifth and Ninth avenues
52nd Street between Fifth and Eighth avenues
58th Street between Sixth and Eighth avenues
59th Street between Fifth Avenue and Columbus Circle

The NYPD will continue its drunken driving enforcement on New Year’s Eve with patrols and checkpoints throughout the city.
